Forest Preserves of Cook County
Fisheries Technician
Hello! My Name is Mike Feldmann. I’m the Fisheries Technician for the Forest Preserves of Cook County. I have been with the Preserves for almost 5 years. I received my bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University.  Before working with the Forest Preserves of Cook County I had several internships including with a Pollution Control Officer and Fisheries Biologists at MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District),  doing land restoration work with the National Audubon Society Chicago Region, and doing deer management with the DuPage County Forest Preserves. I was hired on as a Resource Technician for the Forest Preserves of Cook County and a year later transferred to the Fisheries division were I’ve been for over three years. In Fisheries we are in charge of maintaining and managing the water bodies in the Preserves for fishing and ecological sustainability. Some of my duties include running water chemistry, macroinvertebrate sampling, and conducting fish inventories with the fisheries biologist. Outside of work my hobbies include fishing and camping in the Boundary Waters.
